Private Data Center Developer / Operator
Overland Park, Kansas-based data center developer and operator. Acquired by Blackstone in a $10 billion transaction in August 2021. QTS operates or has under development more than 75 data centers in North America and Europe, with over 3 GW of contracted capacity as of 2026.
Data Center Footprint
QTS operates data centers across major U.S. markets including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Northern Virginia, New Jersey, Oregon, and Utah, with European sites as well. As of late 2021, QTS had 48 data centers and 19 land and development sites. Under Blackstone ownership, the company has expanded significantly. New development projects are concentrated in secondary markets and high-growth regions where power availability and land costs are more favorable.
Energy Strategy
QTS committed to sourcing 100% of its power from renewable energy by 2025. The company subscribed to nearly 350 MW of new renewable energy capacity under a 20-year agreement with Georgia Power, effective 2024, to support its Georgia data center campuses. Blackstone's capital backing has given QTS the financial capacity to make long-term power procurement commitments that smaller independent operators cannot match.
